Our life long commitment to Truth and how to bring the divine teachings into every day life to transform bondage into liberation through the path of Yoga in Practice, Philosophy, Chanting and Satsang.Instructor: Yogacharya Ganga Puri-ji enjoys the privilege of being born in Haridwar (at the Gates of Heaven) on the bank of the Holy Mother Ganges River into a family of renunciates. His father Baba Santosh Puri - a sanyassi from childhood, who practiced severe yogic austerities on an island by the Ganga River until he was blessed with a vision of goddess Ganga - after which his mother, Shri Narvada Puri Ma - a young seeker of Truth, from Germany arrived to the island to renounce all heritage, to devote her life to meditation along the Ganga. She was later initiated into the Juna Akara. The oldest Holy Order of Sannyasins.
After ten years of austerities, Ganga Puri was born an expected gift of Mother Ganga. His childhood passed in the company of holy men and women. Still his father insisted on the best education possible, by no means forcing the boy into the spiritual path. Ganga Puri graduated with a degree in Physics & Mathematics from the Grahwal University in Srinagar. But, after the Maha-Samadhi of his father (during the Allahabad Kumbh Mela 2001) a fundamental change of realization overcame the student of Science and Ganga changed his life into complete devotion to the Divine Truth. Meditation and Yoga practices became his main intention, as they are today. At the Gurukul Kangri University of Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Ganga Puri successfully obtained a post-graduate diploma and Master's Degree in Human Consciousness and Yogic Science. As a Yog-Acharya (master of yoga), he devotes his energy to lead yoga courses and Vedic studies for aspirants of Truth. Besides his studies, he has continuously been blessed by the teachings of traditional Indian gurus and yogis.
Since 2001, he has overtaken the spiritual heritage of his yogic father and assumed responsibilities for the maintenance and courses at Santosh Puri Ashram in the foothills of the Himalayas. The ashram is a retreat center for spiritual research and studies of the yogic art of living. Please see website for further info www.yoganga.org
